On Connection (2022)

Delta Lives presented this video as part of Veritas 2022 in Kolkatha. I am virtually talking about ‘Connection’ and offering us a glimpse into her project ‘Weaving Wetlands’ for our show ‘Interconnectedness at the Heart of Delta Lives’ on 28th Aug 11 am onwards.

Weaving Place, Deep Listening and the Sacred: A panel for Soundwalk September

As part of  Soundwalk September 2020 festival I curated and chaired a discussion focused on the themes of weaving place, deep listening and the Sacred.
Guests included Jo Tito (NZ), Dr Leah Barclay (AU), Dr Michelle Maloney (AU) and Dr Ruth Irwin (AU/NZ) on 21 September 2020.

The event was hosted by The Valley Centre and the Australian Earth Laws Alliance. The Valley Centre President, Tracey Cooper introduced the panel guests and the theme of the conversation. Andrew Stuck one of the festival organisers also did an overview for the talk at the beginning of the presentation.

Connecting with the trees in Ngunawal Country
Connecting with the trees in Ngunawal Country is a documentation of a local walk which I have taken on an almost daily basis since the outbreak of COVID-19. This is a virtual guided walking meditation that everyone can enjoy.

Canberra report for Urban Tree Festival 2020
This video is a report commission by the Urban Tree Festival about the recent Black Summer as well as the urban forests and tree history of establishing Canberra as the Bush Capital.

Stella Maris
This work is a collaboration between New York based composer and singer Ruth Cunningham and Tracey M Benson. Inspired by their connection to Chartres Cathedral through Ubiquity University’s The Cosmic Dance of Astronomica program, this work honours the connectedness of oceans and the beauty of our world. Published August 2020

After the Fires 2020
This video is about The Murrumbidgee River – the flow after the catastrophic fires on the Summer of 2019/2020. The sound work is a spontaneous composition by sound artist and healer Dian Booth, recorded at SCANZ CBR in 2017. Video footage and editing by Tracey M Benson, filmed at Uriarra Crossing January 2020 and Ginninderry March 2020 after the rain. Published March 2020

Digitisation of “My Country” from 1997

Walking with the Ancients – a collaboration with Josiah Jordan
This is the second stage of our project. This work is a 360 video and can be explored using a VR headset as well. The audio is a composition by Josiah Jordan and is derived from my DNA and samples of ancient Norse instruments.

The Mountains Remain (2016)
The Mountains Remain is a work produced for Belco Flicks as part of the 50th Anniversary celebrations of the establishment of Belconnen. This work is a response to conversations with Ngunnawal Elder Tyronne Bell (Thunderstone: Aboriginal Cultural & Land Management Services) and Professor Bill Gammage (the author of The Biggest Estate on Earth).

Way of the Turtle (2016)
Way of the Turtle is a collaboration between Yorta Yorta researcher Lee Joachim and artist Tracey Benson, initiated in 2014. This video is documentation of a work developed as part the Water, Peace, Power (WPP) residency and exhibition. The sound element of the work presented vocals of Parihaka descendent Jo Tito and Yorta Yorta Elder Sharon Atkinson, combining Maori, Yorta Yorta and English languages and stories. This project is seen as a prototype to create a larger work that would be the result of ongoing community engagement. At WPP Lee and Tracey collaborated with Nigel Helyer, Martin Drury, Andrew Hornblow and Allan Giddy to create the work.
