Drammen Library – artist talk at 1pm, Saturday 14 October

Vi har gleden av å invitere til utstilling og kunstnerpresentasjon lørdag 14. oktober kl 13!

Drammen kommunes kunstnerleilighet er nå bebodd av den australske multimediekunstneren og forskeren Tracey Benson, og vi inviterer til å høre henne fortelle om sitt arbeide.

Dette kan du få med deg i kaffebaren Dramn i første etasje på Drammensbiblioteket lørdag 14. oktober. Samme sted i oktober kan du også se bilder fra utstillingen hun har arbeidet med mens hun har oppholdt seg i Drammen. Utstillingens overordnede tema er From Earth to Sky, og den fokuserer på trær – trær som metaforer på familie, samfunn og forbindelser.

Tracey har en doktorgrad, hun forsker ved Institutt for anvendt økologi ved universitetet i Canberra, men har også en mastergrad i kunst og en lang kreativ karriere som kunstner. Både i sin kunst og i sin forskningsformidling prøver hun ut mange medier og teknikker. Hun bruker vanlig kamera, hun benytter et 360° kamera, VR, video, og ikke minst internett og blogging.

Under sitt tre måneder lange opphold i Drammen har hun utforsket idéer om migrasjon, steder og slektsforskning. En av hennes forfedre utvandret fra Hurum til Australia, og hun har foretatt mange reiser i området for å finne spor. Hun har også benyttet oppholdet til å eksperimentere med farging basert på lokale plantesorter.

  1. We are pleased to invite you to the exhibition and artist presentation Saturday 14th October at 13!

    The Drammen municipality’s artist apartment is now inhabited by the Australian multimedia artist and researcher Tracey Benson, and we invite to hear her tell about her work. This can be brought to you in the coffee shop Dramn on the first floor at the Drammen Library on Saturday 14 October. The same place in October, you can also see pictures from the exhibition she has been working on while she has stayed in Drammen.

    The exhibition’s overall theme is From Earth to Sky, focusing on tree-trees as metaphors on families, communities and connections.

    Time: Saturday 14 October at 13 pm Place: Café Dramn, 1st floor at the Drammen Library Come and listen to a versatile, talented and fascinating mediator, in a cozy setting at the Drammen Library! More about Tracey under the pictures.

    Tracey has a PhD, she researches at the Department of Applied Ecology at the University of Canberra, but also holds a master’s degree in art and a long creative career as an artist. Both in her art and in her research dissertation, she tries out many media and techniques.

    She uses a regular camera, she uses a 360 ° camera, VR, video, and not least internet and blogging. During her three-month stay in Drammen, she has explored ideas about migration, places and genealogy.

    One of her ancestors emigrated from Hurum to Australia, and she has made many trips in the area to find tracks. She has also used her stay to experiment with dye based on local plant varieties. See more of her photos on the website / blog
