The past couple of weeks have gone so quickly. The Puanga festival was just amazing - reminding me on every level why I am drawn to this place, its stories and the tangata whenua that love and protect this place - generously sharing their message of peace and aroha. Today the closing ceremony was marked by the extinguishing of the fire in the maara. The children took turns in slowly pouring water on the fire until the fire was put out. It was a gesture focused on the future - when it is time to relight the fire for Puanga the next generation will light the fire. As if to echo this intention of hope, Taranaki showed through the clouds for a few minutes - looking magnificent in a blanket of snow and layers of cloud. I want to write so much more but sleep is calling me... more soon xx
